Strensham Castle is a moated site of medieval origin located in Worcestershire, England. The monument preserves earthwork remains of a motte-and-bailey castle, the motte surviving as a prominent raised platform surrounded by the defensive ditch system characteristic of Norman-period fortifications. During the English Civil War, the site was refortified and utilised as a military stronghold, its earlier medieval earthworks being adapted for seventeenth-century defensive purposes. The stratification of these two periods of fortification—medieval and Civil War—makes the site archaeologically significant as evidence of the reuse and modification of earlier defensive structures.
