Old Ingarsby is a moated site and deserted medieval village located in Leicestershire. The settlement was abandoned during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, a period when many English villages were depopulated through enclosure for sheep farming. The site preserves visible earthwork remains including the substantial moat which enclosed the manorial farmstead, together with ridge-and-furrow field systems and settlement features that document the layout of the former village. These archaeological remains provide valuable evidence of medieval rural settlement patterns and the processes of landscape transformation that characterised the later medieval period in the East Midlands.
