The moated site and two fishponds located 80 metres south-west of Parkhouse Farm is a medieval settlement complex situated in Yorkshire. The monument comprises a substantial moat with associated fishponds, features typical of high-status medieval occupation and water management from approximately the 12th to 16th centuries. The moat would have originally enclosed a residential dwelling, likely belonging to a gentry family or minor nobility, whilst the fishponds served both practical purposes of food production and landscape design. The survival of these earthworks provides archaeological evidence of medieval rural settlement patterns and the exploitation of water resources in medieval Yorkshire.
