The moated site at Court Farm is a medieval residential enclosure located in Herefordshire. The monument comprises a substantial water-filled moat forming an irregular polygonal or roughly rectangular circuit, which would have surrounded a domestic dwelling and its associated service buildings during the medieval period. Such moated sites were characteristic of the medieval landscape, particularly from the twelfth century onwards, and served both defensive and status-conferring functions for minor gentry and substantial farmers. The survival of the water-filled moat at Court Farm provides evidence of medieval settlement patterns and landholding practices in the region.
