The monument consists of substantial earthwork remains comprising a roughly rectangular moat with associated banks and platforms, indicative of a manorial homestead of middling status. The site preserves evidence of medieval domestic settlement and land management practices characteristic of the High Medieval period in southern England, though detailed documentary records of its occupation history remain limited.
