Hall Yards is a moated site located approximately 150 metres north-west of Tyrell's Hall near Cambridgeshire. The monument comprises the earthwork remains of a medieval moat, representing a residential enclosure typical of the high and late medieval period. Such moated sites were common amongst the medieval gentry and established peasantry throughout eastern England, serving both defensive and status-affirming functions. The survival of the moat as an archaeological feature provides evidence of settlement patterns and land use during the medieval centuries.
