Moated site of Crancourt Manor is a medieval moated enclosure situated approximately 430 metres south-east of Manor Farm in Norfolk. The site comprises a rectangular moat which would have formed a defensive and prestige feature typical of medieval manorial settlements, protecting the principal residence and demesne farmland. The moat represents settlement activity during the medieval period, likely dating from the 12th to 16th centuries when such earthwork defences were commonly constructed around the homesteads of the nobility and gentry. The surviving earthwork remains an important archaeological resource for understanding the character and distribution of medieval settlement in Norfolk.
