Mound of Milden Castle is a Norman motte-and-bailey earthwork located in Suffolk, England. The monument consists of a substantial mound with associated defensive ditches, typical of early Norman castle construction dating to the eleventh or twelfth century. The site represents the fortified seat of a medieval landowner during the period following the Norman Conquest, when such earthen strongholds were rapidly established across England as instruments of military control and administrative authority. Though no stone structures remain visible, the earthwork survives as a significant testimony to Norman settlement patterns and the landscape of feudal power in medieval Suffolk.
