New Hall Moat, Astley is a medieval moated site situated approximately 200 metres north of Astley Hospital in Lancashire. The monument consists of a substantial earthwork comprising a moat that once surrounded a residential dwelling, representing a form of settlement defence and status symbol characteristic of the medieval period.
