Okehampton Artillery Range: Experimental Parapets and Redoubt is a nineteenth-century military fortification located on Okehampton Range in Devon. The site comprises experimental defensive earthworks constructed to test artillery and parapet designs during the period of intensive military modernisation that characterised the Victorian era. The redoubt and associated parapets represent practical experiments in fortification design undertaken in response to developments in artillery technology. These structures provide archaeological evidence of the British military's engagement with evolving defensive strategies during the latter half of the nineteenth century.
