Old Caberston scooped settlement is a prehistoric earthwork site situated in Peeblesshire, consisting of a settlement whose structures have been defined by shallow depressions or scoops cut into the landscape. The site represents evidence of Iron Age or Early Historic period occupation, periods during which such scooped settlements were characteristic of settlement patterns in the Scottish Borders. The physical remains survive as a series of shallow hollows in the ground surface, indicating domestic occupation and activity on what would have been the original ground level. Such settlements are significant for understanding the pattern of rural settlement and land use in pre-medieval Scotland, though the precise dating and extent of occupation at this particular site would require archaeological investigation to establish with certainty.
