Olrig House broch is an Iron Age defensive structure situated approximately 900 metres north-east of Olrig House in Caithness, northern Scotland. The monument dates to the Iron Age period and represents the broch type of fortified settlement characteristic of northern and western Scotland during this era. Brochs are distinctive circular stone towers with hollow-walled construction, built to provide defensive refuge and demonstrate the status of their occupants within Iron Age communities. The Olrig House broch remains an important example of Iron Age settlement archaeology in Caithness and contributes to understanding the distribution and function of these monumental structures across the far north of Scotland.
