The hut circle comprises a roughly circular stone foundation, characteristic of prehistoric domestic settlement patterns on Dartmoor and the surrounding upland regions. Together with its companion structure on the same site, it forms part of the scattered evidence of prehistoric occupation and land use in this area. Such hut circles represent the remains of permanent or semi-permanent dwellings dating from the later prehistoric period, when upland settlement was more extensive than in subsequent eras.
