Pillow mound 450m west of Hen Tor is a medieval earthwork forming part of Hentor Warren in Devon. The monument consists of a distinctive raised ridge characteristic of pillow mounds, artificial features constructed to provide suitable habitat for rabbit warrens during the medieval period. The warren represents a form of land management and resource exploitation practised from at least the twelfth century onwards, when rabbits became an increasingly valuable commodity for fur and meat. The surviving earthwork evidence demonstrates the deliberate modification of the landscape to support commercial rabbit farming, a practice which remained economically significant until the post-medieval period.
