Pillow mound 80m south east of Windmill Barrow Farm is a medieval earthwork located in Dorset. The monument is a pillow mound, a distinctive ridge-and-furrow type feature characteristic of medieval and post-medieval rabbit warrens, constructed to provide suitable habitat for breeding rabbits which were farmed as an important food resource. The feature survives as a low earthen mound in the landscape and represents evidence of the organised management of land for small game during the medieval period. Such warrens were widespread across southern England and indicate the economic importance of rabbit farming in medieval rural economies.
