Hound Tor is a deserted medieval village site located on Dartmoor in Devon, England. The settlement comprises the remains of at least four stone-built houses, arranged around a central green, together with associated field systems and agricultural terraces that date primarily to the medieval period, roughly twelfth to sixteenth centuries. Archaeological investigation has revealed evidence of earlier prehistoric occupation on the site, including Bronze Age activity. The surviving stone foundations and the extensive lynchets and field boundaries visible in the surrounding landscape provide important evidence for medieval rural settlement patterns and land management practices on the Dartmoor plateau.
