Preshute Down field system is a prehistoric agricultural landscape located in Wiltshire, comprising strip fields and associated earthworks that represent early farming practices on the chalk downland. The system dates to the Bronze Age and Iron Age periods, when intensive cultivation of these open downs would have been a significant component of the local economy. The field boundaries, visible as lynchets and banks, demonstrate the systematic organization of arable land across the slope, with terraced cultivation responding to the topography of the down. The monument preserves important evidence for the development of organized field systems in southern Britain during the later prehistoric period.
