Rangag is a Bronze Age standing stone located in Caithness, near the Latheron to Thurso Road, approximately 750 metres north of Latheron. The monument stands on bedrock composed of Middle Old Red Sandstone, a mixed sequence of conglomerate, sandstone, siltstone and mudstone deposited during the Middle Devonian period. This local geology provided the material for many of the stones erected in the region during the Bronze Age, when such monoliths served purposes ranging from territorial markers to ritual or funerary monuments.
