Lease Rigg Roman Fort is a Roman military installation located in Yorkshire dating to the Roman occupation of Britain. The fort was established during the period of Roman expansion into the northern territories and served as part of the defensive and administrative network controlling the region. Archaeological investigation has revealed structural remains characteristic of Roman fort construction, including evidence of the characteristic playing-card layout with internal buildings and defensive works typical of auxiliary forts. The site contributes important evidence to understanding the pattern of Roman military deployment and settlement across the Pennine regions during the Imperial period.
