This site is a Romano-British enclosed stone hut circle settlement and round cairn located approximately 350 metres south of Hartsop Hall in Westmorland. The settlement comprises stone-built structures typical of the Romano-British period in the upland regions of northern England, where native populations maintained traditional roundhouse settlements alongside Roman occupation. The round cairn represents a burial or ceremonial monument, possibly of prehistoric origin or reused during the Romano-British period. The combined settlement and funerary features demonstrate the continuity of native settlement patterns and ritual practices in the Lake District uplands during the first to fourth centuries AD.
