Newport Lock is a roving bridge and lock situated on the Shropshire Canal approximately 255 metres south-east of Wrekin View Farm. The structure dates from the late eighteenth century, forming part of the canal infrastructure developed during the industrial expansion of the Midlands. The lock features a traditional design characteristic of Georgian-era canal engineering, serving to manage water levels and enable vessel passage along the waterway.
