Rubha nic Eamoin is an Iron Age fort situated on a promontory approximately 600 metres south of Tarbert on the island of Canna in Argyllshire, Scotland. The site occupies a naturally defensible headland position typical of Iron Age coastal settlements in the Hebrides, commanding views of the surrounding waters and approaches to the settlement. Archaeological investigation has identified the remains of fortification works consistent with the Iron Age period, reflecting the strategic importance of such locations for controlling maritime access and local territories during the pre-Roman Iron Age. The fort represents a significant example of Iron Age settlement patterns in the Inner Hebrides, where promontory fortifications provided both practical defence and symbolic assertion of control over valued coastal resources.
