Silloth Golf Course tower 12b is a Roman signal tower forming part of the coastal defence system erected along the Cumbrian coast during the later Roman period. Located approximately 410 metres north-west of Heatherbank, this monument represents one of a chain of fortifications constructed to protect the north-western frontier of Roman Britain and to monitor maritime and overland movement along this strategically important coastline. The tower dates to the second or third century AD, when Rome maintained heightened military vigilance over its northern territories. As a scheduled ancient monument listed under NHLE reference 1014801, it remains an important archaeological record of Roman military infrastructure and frontier strategy in northern Britain.
