Sithean na Gearra is a shieling site located approximately 1750 metres south of the named location in Caithness, Scotland. The site comprises remains of temporary pastoral shelters characteristic of the shieling tradition, whereby communities moved livestock to upland summer pastures during the transhumance season. Such settlements typically date from the medieval period through to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, representing a seasonally mobile form of animal husbandry practised across the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
