Holbury Camp is a univallate hillfort situated approximately 750 metres east of Holwell Lodge in Devon. The monument consists of a single rampart enclosing an roughly circular or oval defended enclosure, characteristic of Iron Age hillfort construction in the region. The earthwork survives in a slightly degraded condition, retaining discernible defensive features typical of prehistoric fortified settlements in south-western England. Dating evidence and comparative study suggest occupation during the Iron Age period, when such hillforts functioned as territorial markers, defensive strongholds, or centres of local authority within the landscape.
