Sourhope is a post-medieval settlement and field system located approximately 1600 metres north-east of Sourhope in Roxburghshire, in the Scottish Borders. The site represents the remains of an agricultural community dating to the post-medieval period, evident from its surviving earthwork features including settlement structures and associated field divisions. The landscape archaeology of the site demonstrates the organisation of farming land characteristic of early modern rural settlement in the Anglo-Scottish borderlands. These field systems and habitation traces provide evidence of the agrarian economy and land-use patterns of this frontier region during the centuries following the medieval period.
