Springfield is a post-medieval palisaded enclosure and ring ditch situated approximately 200 metres east of Springfield in East Lothian, Scotland. The site comprises a substantial earthwork consisting of a circular or sub-circular ditch with an associated palisade line, characteristic of defensive or demarcative structures from the post-medieval period. The ring ditch and palisade arrangement suggests a function related to settlement definition, stock management, or possibly defensive purposes during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries.
