The Berth is a late prehistoric hillfort situated near Baschurch in Shropshire. The monument comprises a substantial univallate or bivallate earthwork enclosure dating to the Iron Age, with defences that would have served both defensive and administrative functions typical of the period. The site occupies a strategically significant position within the landscape of the English Midlands and represents an important example of Iron Age settlement hierarchy in the region. Excavation and survey work has contributed to understanding of Iron Age occupation patterns and the transition to Roman period settlement in Shropshire.
