The middle one of three stone hut circles south west of Corringdon Leat, Corringdon Ball is a Bronze Age or Iron Age domestic structure located on Dartmoor in Devon. The site comprises a cluster of three circular stone-built hut foundations, of which the central example is the subject of this designation, characteristic of prehistoric settlement patterns on the moor. The hut circle exhibits the typical morphology of such structures, with stone walls forming a roughly circular plan, representative of domestic occupation during the later prehistoric period. These monuments demonstrate the pattern of dispersed settlement and pastoral economy that characterised upland Dartmoor during the Bronze Age and Iron Age, and remain significant evidence of prehistoric land use in this landscape.
