The Mount is a motte castle located approximately 200 metres west of Weston Farm in Shropshire. The monument comprises a substantial earthwork mound characteristic of Norman defensive architecture, constructed during the 11th or 12th century following the Norman Conquest of England. Such motte castles were among the earliest and most common fortifications erected by the Normans in England, serving as administrative and military centres for newly established lordships. The site remains a significant example of post-Conquest settlement patterns and the rapid militarisation of the English landscape during the medieval period.
