The Rings is a ringwork and bailey earthwork situated approximately four hundred metres south-west of Corfe Castle in Dorset. The monument consists of a substantial circular or oval defensive enclosure formed by a bank and ditch, characteristic of early medieval fortification in southern England, though its precise date of construction remains uncertain. The site was later utilised during the English Civil War, when it served as a military battery position, reflecting its continued strategic value as a defensive location commanding the surrounding landscape. The earthworks remain visible today as important archaeological evidence of medieval settlement fortification and seventeenth-century military activity in the vicinity of one of Dorset's most significant castles.
