Thetford Warren Lodge is a late medieval or early post-medieval structure located in Thetford, Suffolk, that served as a lodge associated with the management of the nearby Thetford Warren, an extensive rabbit warren. The building dates from approximately the fifteenth or sixteenth century and was constructed to house the warrener or warren keeper who oversaw the breeding and management of rabbits, which were a valuable commodity in medieval and early modern England. The lodge is built of flint and stone, typical of Norfolk and Suffolk construction, and its remains demonstrate the practical architecture required for the operation of such commercial warrening enterprises. Thetford Warren itself was one of the largest warrens in medieval England, and the lodge represents the infrastructure of an important medieval industry that supplied both food and fur to local populations and markets.
