History & significance

Thompson's Rigg cairnfield is a Bronze Age monumental landscape located in Yorkshire, England. The site comprises a substantial collection of burial and ceremonial monuments including platform cairns, round burial cairns, a ring cairn, associated round barrows, and a standing stone, alongside evidence of ancient land use in the form of hollow ways. These monuments date primarily to the Bronze Age and represent a significant concentration of funerary and ritual activity across the moorland terrain.
