Tomen Bedd Ugre is a motte and bailey castle located in Radnorshire, Wales, dating to the Norman period following the Anglo-Norman conquest and settlement of the region. The monument comprises a substantial mound with an associated bailey, a defensive earthwork characteristic of early medieval fortifications constructed rapidly across Wales and the English border to establish Norman military control. Like other mottes and baileys in this borderland region, it would have served as a stronghold for a Norman lord and centre of local administration during the twelfth century. The site remains visible as an earthwork monument and is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument under the Welsh heritage designation system.
