Tortington Augustinian priory is a religious community founded in the twelfth century in the parish of Tortington in West Sussex, established as a house of Augustinian canons. The surviving remains include substantial elements of the priory precinct, notably the ponds which formed part of the monastic landscape and served practical functions within the community's estate management. The site preserves physical evidence of medieval monastic occupation and organisation, with the pond systems representing typical features of Augustinian houses during the medieval period. The priory was dissolved during the Reformation, and the surviving archaeological features, including the water management infrastructure, continue to illustrate the scale and character of the medieval religious establishment.
