Tranent Tower is a late medieval fortified tower house located in East Lothian, Scotland. The structure dates from the sixteenth century and represents a typical example of the smaller defensive domestic architecture constructed during the period of increased border tensions and local feuding that characterised lowland Scotland. The tower would have served both as a residence for a local family of means and as a fortified stronghold offering protection and a visible statement of status within the community. The monument remains a significant example of East Lothian's architectural heritage from the early modern period.
