Two bowl barrows and a levelled barrow 460m north east of Normanton House on Amesbury Down is a Bronze Age funerary monument complex located in the intensively barrow-rich landscape of Amesbury Down in Wiltshire. The site comprises two surviving bowl barrows, the simplest and most common form of Bronze Age burial mound, together with the earthwork remains of a third barrow that has been substantially flattened by ploughing and other land use. These monuments date from the Early to Middle Bronze Age, a period when such round barrows functioned as burial and ceremonial focal points within the prehistoric landscape. The Amesbury Down area, part of the broader ceremonial complex surrounding Stonehenge, contains numerous such barrows reflecting the sustained ritual significance and elite burial practices of Bronze Age communities in this region.
