Two cup marked rocks forming part of a group of prominent rocks known as Raven Stones on Rocking Moor, 500m WSW of Brae is an ancient monument comprising natural rock outcrops decorated with Bronze Age cup marks. The two stones are among several prominent boulders in this locality that bear evidence of prehistoric rock art, consisting of small cupules pecked into the rock surface, a practice characteristic of Bronze Age ritual or territorial expression. The monument lies within the upland landscape of the North York Moors, an area rich in Bronze Age activity and prehistoric rock art. Such cup marked rocks typically date to the Bronze Age and represent some of the earliest permanent marking of the landscape by human communities in northern England.
