White Fort is a platform rath, an early Christian settlement earthwork located in Magherafelt, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The monument consists of a raised platform surrounded by defensive earthen banks and ditches, typical of Early Christian period raths that served as enclosed homesteads and centres of local authority between the fifth and twelfth centuries. Such raths were constructed by driving wooden palisades into banks of earth and stone, creating fortified settlements for high-status families and their dependents. White Fort represents the archaeological evidence of early medieval territorial organisation and domestic settlement in Ulster during the Christian period.
