Woody Castle is a Iron Age fort situated on the banks of Loch Maben in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. The site occupies a defensive position overlooking the loch and exhibits the characteristic earthwork structures typical of Iron Age settlement in south-west Scotland. The fort represents an important example of Iron Age fortification in the region, reflecting patterns of settlement and territorial control during the pre-Roman period. Like other contemporary sites in the area, it provides evidence of the Iron Age communities that inhabited the Solway frontier zone prior to the Roman occupation of southern Scotland.
