World War II Heavy Anti-aircraft gunsite (TS2), 300m east of Chetney Cottages is a scheduled ancient monument comprising the remains of a Second World War anti-aircraft defence installation. The site dates from the period of 1939 to 1945, when it formed part of Britain's integrated air defence network against German aerial attack. The gunsite was equipped to mount heavy anti-aircraft artillery and represents the substantial investment in coastal and inland air defence infrastructure during the war. The remains survive as earthworks and structural features characteristic of such military installations from this period.
