Constructed during the period of intensive coastal and inland defence fortification between 1940 and 1941, the structure exemplifies the standardised defensive architecture erected across the British Isles in anticipation of German invasion. The pillbox is a modest single-storey reinforced concrete construction, typical of the small garrison posts designed to provide observation and defensive fire across approaches to strategically sensitive locations. As a surviving example of wartime defensive engineering, the site is recorded within the Northern Ireland Sites and Monuments Record under the designation HED NI NISMR MonID 6875.
