Biography

Al St. John was born in Santa Ana, California in 1892 and worked as a film actor, screenwriter, director, and stunt performer. He was a nephew of silent film star Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle and performed with him on screen, while also working with Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Mabel Normand under directors including Mack Sennett. His film career extended from the silent era into sound pictures, and from the late 1930s onward he appeared frequently in Westerns playing the character "Fuzzy Q. Jones," including roles in the Billy the Kid series (1940–1946) and the Lone Rider series (1941–1943) for Producers Releasing Corporation. He died on January 21, 1963.
