Biography
Allen Klein was an American businessman born in Newark, New Jersey in 1931 who worked as a music executive, film producer, talent agent, talent manager, record producer, and entrepreneur. He founded ABKCO Music & Records Incorporated and employed aggressive negotiation tactics that shaped industry standards for compensating recording artists. Klein secured new record company contracts and increased profits for his musician clients, beginning with Buddy Knox and Jimmy Bowen in the late 1950s, and later managing Sam Cooke, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones simultaneously alongside numerous other artists. He died on July 4, 2009.
