Biography

Ann Sothern was born in North Dakota in 1909 and worked as a stage, film, and television actor across a career lasting nearly six decades. She began in film during the late 1920s in small roles, then made her Broadway debut in 1930 and advanced to leading parts. MGM cast her in 1939 as Maisie Ravier, a Brooklyn showgirl character that became the basis for a film series and a network radio series. She died in 2001.
