Biography

Archie Moore was born in Benoit, Mississippi in 1913 and worked as a boxer, television actor, and film actor. He competed professionally as a boxer from 1935 to 1963, and held the World Light Heavyweight Championship for a longer period than any other fighter in that weight class. Moore fought with a strategic and defensive style and carried the nicknames "the Mongoose" and later "the Old Mongoose." He died in 1998.
