Biography

Robert Joseph Cousy was born in Manhattan in 1928 and became a professional basketball player who served as point guard for the Boston Celtics from 1950 to 1963, and later played for the Cincinnati Royals during the 1969–70 season. He was selected as an NBA All-Star thirteen times and won the NBA Most Valuable Player award in 1957, along with six NBA championships during his tenure with the Celtics. Cousy led the NBA in assists for eight consecutive seasons and was the first player to reach the 4,000, 5,000, and 6,000 career assists milestones.
