Biography

Bob Richards was born in Champaign, Illinois on February 20, 1926, and died on February 26, 2023. He competed in the pole vault and decathlon at three U.S. Olympic teams in 1948, 1952, and 1956. He won gold medals in pole vault at the 1952 and 1956 Olympics, and was the first male two-time champion in that event at the Olympic Games. He also worked as a minister and politician.
