Bob Schul was born on September 28, 1937, in West Milton, Ohio, and died on June 16, 2024. An American long-distance runner, he won an Olympic gold medal in the 5000 metres at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. As of 2024, he remained the only American to have won an Olympic gold medal in this event.
