Buddy Hackett was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1924 and worked as a comedian and comic actor in film, television, stage, and voice acting. He appeared in The Music Man (1962) as Marcellus Washburn, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) as Benjy Benjamin, The Love Bug (1968) as Tennessee Steinmetz, and voiced Scuttle in The Little Mermaid (1989). He was a frequent guest on television game shows and variety shows. He died in 2003.
